Interior Features
Inside this 280 SL features a black leather interior trimmed with wood and chrome. The name “pagoda” came from the tall removable hardtop. It provides excellent visibility due to its thin support columns and tall, wide windows. The center console has the original Becker Europa AM/FM Radio, original dials, and gauges. When this car was new, it was fitted with new safety equipment that we take for granted today, like 3-point seatbelts and an energy absorbing steering column.

Drivetrain Features
Power comes from a 2.8L naturally aspirated, single overhead camshaft, 6 cylinder with Bosch mechanical fuel injection that produces 168 HP and 177 ft/lb of torque. A four-speed automatic transmission sends power to the rear wheels, allowing it to reach 0-60 mph in around 9 seconds and a claimed top speed of 124 mph. Unsurprising for an SL, the suspension is quite advanced for its age. The 280 utilizes a monocoque chassis, with fully independent suspension. The front suspension has coils and wishbones, while the rear incorporates a single-pivot swing axle and transverse springs set up to compensate for camber.
